What has happened to my door?

Up and over garage doors are very reliable. They work using a mechanical system of cables springs, pulleys, and rollers, which is under significant tension. The door should glide up and down when the system is running correctly, this can be helped by some regular maintenance such as spraying with a light oil every 6 months.

However, garage door mechanism are subject to wear and tear over years of use, but are usually repairable.

The door may have failed due to the following

• Broken Springs, you may hear a loud bang, or you may see parts on the floor or the door may just suddenly become heavy and unwieldy. This is repairable
• Worn or flatted rollers, occur over time with the repeated use. This is reparable
• Knotted / twisted cables, this is also down to wear and tear over time or rust. This is repairable
• Lopsided Door is caused by opening the door from one corner, instead of in the centre or hitting an obstruction such as a wheelie bin. This is repairable
